How creative teams can scale with freedom, flexibility and secure foundations.
At LeftBrain, we work with a growing number of innovative teams: branding agencies, design studios, and film production companies. These teams thrive on flexibility. They rely on remote working, cloud tools, and freelance support. But with flexibility comes the risk of gaps, friction, and vulnerabilities.
Smart infrastructure is what keeps creativity flowing and client data protected.
In this Q&A, LeftBrain Strategist Ben Carrick walks us through what a typical day looks like for a secure, creative team. From onboarding to device management, here’s how the right setup gives teams confidence, clarity and control.
Hi Ben. For those who don’t know you yet, could you introduce yourself and your role?
Absolutely. I’m Ben Carrick, and I’m a Strategist here at LeftBrain. My role is to support our clients day to day. I make sure the systems, tools, and ways of working we put in place actually serve their business. I’m part of the team that connects the dots between what a client needs to do and how we make that happen securely and smoothly.
Where are you working from today?
Not the office in London today. I’m working from a small island off the coast of Croatia. It’s pretty lovely, I have to say.
That sounds like a dream setup. What does a secure day look like for a creative team?
It probably still starts with a flat white and a pastry or croissant. Maybe someone cycles into their studio. Maybe they’re working from their kitchen table, or from the coast of Croatia.
The first thing they’ll do is open up their Mac and log into Okta. That signs them into all the apps they need: Slack, Dropbox, Adobe, and so on. Duo might prompt them to approve the login. Their laptop is already up to date. Security patches are installed, disk encryption is sorted, and all of that is managed by MDM.
That means they’re straight into work.
“No tech faff, no password resets. Just open the lid and go.”
What happens when the mid-morning chaos hits?
They might be pitching for a big new client, and suddenly the client sends over a 100-question security form. That’s where it usually falls apart for teams without structure.
But this team is already Cyber Essentials certified. Their documentation is in order. Maybe they check a couple of things with us, but overall it’s a smooth process. The form doesn’t derail their day. It just gets done.
Let’s talk lunch. What’s on the menu?
Sushi. Ramen. Something trendy. Let’s assume they’re fuelling their creative fire.
What does the afternoon look like?
They’ve probably got a few freelancers on a tight deadline. Those freelancers are using their own devices, but still logging in through Okta and Duo. They’ve got security posture checks in place.
That means even personal devices meet a strong baseline: disk encryption, strong passwords, system updates. You can scale your creative output with zero compromise. You have flexibility, but you’ve got control too.
And how does the day end?
Ideally with a local craft beer. Maybe an AI-themed art gallery opening. Something on brand. But the point is, nothing broke. No security scares, no lost time. Just a team getting work done safely.
Final thoughts?
Security doesn’t need to feel heavy or corporate. For creative teams, it should just work. With the right systems, there’s no need for compromise. You get to focus on what you’re best at: designing, editing and delivering outstanding work.
